The image behind the text is a border that is dark blue with gold stars with a black background with neon blue border. An illustrated caticorn holding a pencil and writing in a book with a rose behind one ear is in the lower right corner. A different version of the same illustrated caticorn is curled up writing in the lower left corner.

From a quiet, slightly more personal WIP I keep returning to. #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WIPSnips

I had not stepped into the garden since she died. It sat behind the house like a room whose door I kept meaning to close properly, a place I couldn’t look at without feeling the tug of her hands somewhere deep in the soil. But, that afternoon, weeks after the funeral, weeks after returning to work, I walked out of the backdoor and out into the heat of a midsummer day. The doorstep wobbled beneath me, a familiar sound. Somewhere above my head, a blackbird's song melted into the sky. The air was thick, weighted, as though the weather itself wished for me to turn back.

Everything was in bloom.
