As bluesky grows, it feels to me like we are not seeing many early-career researchers or academics of colour. Are we being intentional about elevating underrepresented and diverse voices? Can we grow a culture of listening and openness? I worry we fall into old habits from previous wastelands...

I think the problem is the closed nature of Blusky. The invite system selects for well-networked scientists. This is why I prefer mastodon.

I'm still new here, and maybe have not curated my feeds enough to make this call, but it feels like same dominant voices are taking up the space. For my part, hoping to elevate my voice as a first-gen, Asian ECR in behalf of those unseen, hoping to be thoughtful and open in replies.

The "invite-only" aspect of bluesky might be an impediment for many.
