Tragedy has befallen out apple experiment. Only one of the two trees survived the winter but that one tree was thriving, until today. Our dog decided that the tree, which she had always ignored, would make a great stick to chew on and yanked it out of the ground. The bark is too damaged to save it.

We still have 2 trees, though only one of them is from this original experiment planting. It's on the right and has grown significantly, reaching about a foot tall now. The other one is newer, planted after the original post, and is nice and healthy. #gardensky
