i'm genuinely curious like. did the alliance raid story in dawntrail land with people who didn't play/have knowledge of FFXI, and did the ivalice stuff land with people who didn't play/have knowledge of that. because i feel like the ivalice stuff did a better job at being its own XIV thing

I wasn’t really huge on either story, but the Ivalice raids definitely did a better job at integrating with the wider XIV world, yeah. More cohesive and the raids had more “show, don’t tell,” while the XI raids felt like they relied more on fan service and lacked storytelling in the actual raids
