🧛‍♂️ A Gentleman's Tour of the Empire 🦇 Edwards is not a natural rule breaker, whereas Kenneth is an 'act now, consider the consequences later' sort of guy. #wipsnips #writesky #writingcommunity #vampire

Water was cascading down Newpier; spraying in broad arcs from overflowing gutters and spraying down the steep steps between street levels like waterfalls. Edwards’ sandy hair was flattened to his head, whereas Kenneth’s got curlier when wet.

They paused by a waist-high pebbledash wall which was not directly overlooked by any windows and pulled the ruined sheets from the Selkie out of Edwards’ bag. The doctor gave Kenneth a severe look over the top of his glasses, and released them over the top.

Here Kenneth’s plan went wrong, for instead of tumbling into the muddy puddles below as he had expected, the wind caught it and it spread out. White and speckled brown with dried blood, it soared in the tempest like some huge bird of prey, round and round in a twist of rain and wind.

“Oh, come on!” wailed Edwards, horrified. “The wind isn’t that strong!”
