Just heard NICHD had it’s three offices that support science via buying (buying lab and hospital supplies) “eliminated in whole or in part.” This shld make us all angry: the Trumpers who did this DELIBERATELY didn’t say who was being cut, so it would dribble out, slowly, reducing media impact. 1/ 🧪

Journalists — and the public — should be pissed that Trump and Musk are manipulating them this way. Trump is lying to the public about what he’s destroying because he knows the public will hate it, and if they knew they would stop him.

Reminds me of the bullshit that goes on in the private sector. "We're laying you off. I have no idea how you actually do your job, so you have to train your replacement." I don't wish this on anyone, government or commercial.

All admin and acquisitions staff were terminated on Tuesday. The next day the admin staff were brought back — not rehired, mind you, but just called back to the office — when RFK et al. realized there was no one left to process all the terminations.

The administration previously announced EOs to decrease research indirect costs to 15%. This is now in the courts. I’m now hearing that HHS cost allocation services is closing some of their offices. These are the people that negotiate IDCs with institutions. What does this mean? I’d love to know.
