Repeat after us: "Executive orders are not the law. Executive orders do not override Congress." Screw Trump and screw his made-up EOs. We don't have to keep pretending he gets to make up the law. Stand up and ignore the bad-law EOs. Can someone please spread this word to every NIH leader?

"Executive orders do not override Congress." They do if you suspend the Constitution. And the guy who declassifies classified documents "in his head" might be willing to do anything that suits him in his head.

NIH senior leaders have also failed these tests. Why aren't Larry Tabak and Francis Collins on CNN every night saying "This is a coup, and Trump is ending cancer research"? Where is Mike Lauer? Why isn't NIH HR refusing the illegal firings, and telling doge to get forked? Please, rise to the test.

On a daily basis, I marvel at how many people in putative positions of power are willing to help obliterate American democracy. The US has faced a series of very easy moral tests in the past decade and it’s staggering how often people in once-respected positions have failed.
