A YouGov line chart headlined "A growing share of Republicans view Canada as unfriendly or an enemy of the U.S." The subhead reads: "Do you consider the following to be an ally or an enemy of the United States? Canada (% who say 'unfriendly' or 'enemy')."

Two lines run from mid-2016 to August 2026 on a vertical axis from 0 to 40 percent. The red Republican line and blue Democratic line both hover between roughly 2 and 10 percent through 2016–2021, with heavy week-to-week noise; Republicans spike to about 14 percent in late 2018. From 2021 the lines diverge: Republicans climb steadily to about 11 percent in 2022, 14 percent in 2023, dip to about 12 percent through 2024, then rise sharply to 24 percent in early 2025, dip to 19 percent, and surge to a final value of 38 percent, labeled in red at the right edge. Democrats rise more gently from about 2 percent in 2022 to 7 percent in 2023, 8–9 percent in 2025–2026, dip to 3 percent, and end at 8 percent, labeled in blue.

A note reads: "Responses of 'ally,' 'friendly,' and 'not sure' are not shown." Source line: The Economist / YouGov, July 2, 2016 – August 31, 2026.
