😮 A university without a library ceases to be a university. Full stop. I’m flabbergasted that a “determination” about a library’s future — besides FUND IT AND STAFF IT — needs to be made by an institute of higher learning.

The University currently has three libraries. As a faculty member there, I don’t want any of them to close. But if one were to close, it would still have two libraries.

I am still haunted by an administrator who said the uni would be a lot better if they didn't have to deal with students or faculty. They weren't trying to be cheeky, either.

Important correction from DePaul faculty member: there are (and will still be) other libraries on campus even if this one is cut. But my indignation still stands for TL;DR erosion to library staff, funding, being forced to do more with less, etc.
