There was an abrupt $11B cut to local/state public health (PH) infrastructure yesterday. I don't think people realize what this means: -Want an updated system to check your immunizations instead of digging through docs? PH no longer able to carry out upgrades to immunization information systems

This is what they do. They're flooding the media with sensational bullshit to keep them and us occupied while they silently cut funding to public programs, and fuck over the common American. They wanted Signalgate to happen, it's a distraction. A huge problem, but a distraction nonetheless.

The rescinded grant was in the last few months of its 5-year run. New grant proposals were just submitted and likely won't be approved. These grants funded my paycheck, unfortunately. The timing feels extremely petty, imo.

As a public health nurse working in grant funded programming, this is a magnification of our norm. We live grant to grant wondering if we will lose our jobs, if our patients will lose services, if we will lose credibility with our community partners (again), because of funding shifts.
