The push for realistic graphics is one of the worst things to happen to gaming. It has resulted in unrealistic expectations from consumers and publishers, crunch time for developers, and developers needing to ignore optimization and bug fixing to get the game out the door.

I think Bethesda hasn’t been good for the gaming industry because they’ve led to this push towards open world non linear experiences as well as normalizing shipping out games that are full of bugs.
Not everything needs to be open world!
