I hate how on point this is. We dropped off WIC way early, bc requirements were so onerous. Mandatory visits to an unventilated office in the middle of a pandemic. A 45 minute stroller walk in summer heat for a "nutrition" appointment that was literally just handing a card through a window.

And all that means testing winds up costing more than if we just Saud "Here's your benefits," to everyone who applies. Which is how you know conservatives really don't want to cut government waste, because they're very happy to keep it when it can be used to hurt people they hate.

The whole point is humiliation. Time wasted, misery, hoops to jump through. Miss a hoop, your benefits disappear. When I say we "dropped off," what I actually mean is, I rescheduled an appointment and they didn't bother to tell me that rescheduling would terminate our monthly benefits.
