"In the dark there is a ladder." It's etched into the pitch black.

"You go up," and the background brightens in the light, turning purple. The ladder is plain. 3/7 panel of a comic. description in next element.

"& up," the background gets lighter still. The ladder is now caged.

"& up." Everything is now a pale orange. The ladder curls and curves upwards further.

"When you reach the top," The ladder ends, standing dark against the light of the sun on the horizon. Up above the clouds, the earth curves subtly, the ground too far away to see anything.

"It is then (& only then)," Falling away from the ladder, the scene tilts, now on a dutch angle. The sun sinks further below the horizon, seeming ever brigher.

"That you will understand yourself." The ladder towers into the night, stars shimmering above. The sunset fades further, red only just tinging the edges of the sky.
