It’s 2026. There is still no serious response to authoritarian populism - one that both grasps its appeal & knows how to defeat it. The solution technocratic centrism offers is, astonishingly, an even more precautionary version of technocratic centrism, which only accelerates authoritarian populism.

Well the historically effective answer was Roosevelt's New Deal, which was a form of what is known in Europe as social democracy. That worked then and I wouldnt know why it should not work now. Its even being worked on in some countries

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Polanski. Both if his model of communication is a viable response to authorianism in a UK context but also his position on Russia, NATO etc. He seems authentic and direct in a way that you've called for. But his Russia comments feel uninformed and hollow.
