Interesting, but also one point not mentioned is living arrangements, especially for younger people. If you don't have a home of your own, you also have to coordinate with the other people there, to be able to entertain in a shared space. So maybe younger people will never get the habit at all.

When we moved here from California, I met a number of people who I could relate to and socialize with. Alas they have "moved on". But now there is that undercurrent of political ideology that was never a thing. Until Bush Jr. 🥺

When cancer, Covid, and self-violence takes away all of your friends, and the economy leaves you in the red at the end of the month, it's kind of hard to host dinners. 💔😔💔
