This gets something that has always bothered me as a NYer: most tragedies are about the specific place where it happened, but 9/11 became something that happened to ALL AMERICANS and not specifically NYC
@rodger.bsky.socialanyway something that still bothers me is how the people who are/were loudest about Never Forgetting are often people who actively hate New York City and New Yorkers and spend the other 364 days of the year fighting against everything the city stands for
