31.08 #Niger According to certain sources the Junta has begun a purge of certain units in the Security Forces connected to the weekend’s coup attempt. Personnel in the Bankilaré department have been disarmed & arrested including a Lt. Colonel & his deputy.

Any idea to what degree there was support for the mutineers among the rest of the security forces? Also what proportion of Nigers military is still combat effective? These were some of the most experienced troops, will their loss have an outsized impact on the fight against JNIM & ISSP?
