i think a big issue is that gen ai has so heavily stolen imagery of ai in sci-fi media - where they are conscious beings capable of feeling pain & often used as a safe yet flawed and lazy way to discuss dehumanization and bigotry - that people sometimes forget that gen ai is NOT FUCKING CONSCIOUS
