It’s not right that tourists are being charged rip-off fares for a pedicab ride. I’ve long called for regulations on pedicabs and from October TfL is bringing them in, making sure the industry is safer and fairer.

What's odd about this is that use of an EAPC is being defined by motor vehicle licencing/standards. Requirement for a driving license for a vehicle that is a cycle sets an awkward precedent that says to use a cycle professionally, you can only be taken seriously if you apply motoring standards.

I wonder whether a chance is being missed here to make them a regular form of transport rather than a tourist ride. £5 base rate and £3 a minute makes them way more expensive than taxis, but they don’t have the same overheads and costs. Could be metered via an app and same £ as a taxi or less.
