As @afteroctavian.bsky.social says below, there is no ‘best’ though there are sometimes key reference recordings with some kind of consensus that they belong in a select group. Guides are unreliable, but can still be source. The Penguin Guide was notoriously unreliable, but has useful stuff in it.
