The EU is on track to do its part to protect the climate by 2050 but we can’t stop pushing for it! 🇪🇺 Next week, the European Council is discussing climate targets that they will bring at COP30. We urge them to make them ambitious. To protect the climate is to protect Europe.

The EU must stay on track." It shows a line graph of EU net greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 to 2050. The pink line represents actual emissions from 1990 to 2020, showing a steady decline, with the 2020 actual emissions slightly below the 2020 target (marked with a yellow dot). A dotted blue line projects further reductions toward the EU’s climate goals: the 2030 target, the 2040 target, and the 2050 target, which reaches net zero. Text at the top says, “We’re halfway, we can’t stop now.” The source is the European Environment Agency (EEA).

What does "Net emissions" mean? Are these consumption-based emissions and do they include LULCF emissions, air transport and sea freight emissions?
