#freeIronManPlots One plot type that HAS been used but that I don't mind is the "Tony Gets New Job". When I was taking a class in screenwriting reality shows, the teacher described a reality show as "assholes with interesting jobs" and that suits Tony to a T. Secretary of Defense, head of Shield?

It works because it takes him out of his normal routine and comfort zone, which gives the writer the opportunity to explore more than "suit gets better". It also gives him a chance to experience people in different walks of life than what he normally experiences. This makes for good plots.

So for my plot: His company is under an injunction & his armor is locked up, so he goes to a suburban house SI owns. There are problems in the town limiting his ability to work, so he runs for mayor and wins.
