I was really frustrated by Pittsburgh's URA in the past -- the landbank didn't produce any new housing for anyone! Since Mayor Gainey was elected, we've seen a lot of movement from the URA, in addition to the Mayor's other work on affordable housing.

I moved back to PA a decade ago, after experiencing the Gentrification-O-Rama of Portland, Oregon. My neighborhood there transformed from being a mix that included butchers, bakers, admins, waiters and welders to only being much better paid white collar folks. My original neighbors were priced out.

City has options only building upward. Land is limited in confines of city. Best option build or remodel.
