Jenni French and I argued this in a separate paper we can't just assume foragers have uniformly low fertility in archaeological models which often use ethnographic data to help interpret archaeology data So - we had to explore *if* farming actually > fertility

We gathered data on 10,250 women from 27 populations worldwide - shared so generously by all the co-authors - to analyses if individual level subsistence (time spent in, diet from, income, land owned, heads of livestock, rural versus urban residence) predicted actual live births

To prove a point - first we explored just how variable individuals subsistence was within populations and within subsistence types. Here we see that women - to varying degrees - engaged it a wide range of economic activities not necessarily aligned with their 'type'
