The entire Holly-Mei series by Christina Matula. THE NOT-SO-UNIFORM LIFE OF HOLLY-MEI, THE NOT-SO-PERFECT PLAN, and THE NOT-SO-SIMPLE QUESTION This is a great trilogy of books about a Chinese-Canadian girl whose family moves to Hong Kong for her mother's job. The food descriptions are amazing.

THE VISITORS by Grey Howard Perfect for this time of year - this is a queer middle grade ghost story that genuinely creeped me out at times. There's some very complicated issues tackled in this one, and it's all handled very well. Exceptional book.

GHOST GIRL by Ally Malinenko Also a ghost book! There's a really great theme about feminism in this one, and about how girls are told to be small and quiet and not to take up space. It also deals with mental health and grief. And one of the MC's friends is fat and the rep is very nicely handled.
