The most effective nonviolent strategy for defeating an authoritarian regime is fostering division among its leaders and supporters. "Whichever side...is able to divide the opponent from its main pillars of support will ultimately succeed." So perhaps we should focus on doing that?

We are a nonviolent group and the organizers of the rally are also committed to nonviolence… Building solidarity and encouraging people out of complacency/neutrality is important. There are plenty who are enabling the current regime but just need some encouragement to start resisting.
