Today's pigeon rescue story isn't mine, but belongs to another rescuer in my organisation who kindly donated to my kofi, so decided to feature their favourite - Gigi! Some pigeons just know rescuers are there to help, and Gigi is one of them. #pigeonsky #pigeons #pigeon #pigeonrescue

Picture depicts a robust, healthy female pigeon with an orange tag on its angle.

Gigi

As a fledgling, Gigi was already very friendly for a feral bird. She quickly became a member of Mish's flock, visiting daily.

Perhaps her most astonishing attribute is that she perfectly walks the line between humans and pigeons, becoming some sort of "pigeon diplomat".

After experiencing her own events of illness and stringfoot (in which she voluntarily jumped into Mish's birdcage and alerted her for help), she quickly became a standard presence for those in need of care.

As long as a sick or injured bird needed treatment, Gigi would reliably rest outside the cage, providing comfort and socialisation to the patient. She seemed to understand that these birds needed company, and apparently decided that this was now her life's calling. Gigi is, by all accounts, the local feral with a job.
