If I don't use an integral table, I don't cite the high-school text book where I learned about basic integrals, substitution, chain rule and so on, though. From what I can see, there have always been pragmatic limits to what needs to be cited. Not "RA cites everything" vs "AI cites nothing".

But Markus, I’d be shocked if you told me that you believe that research is the same as the algorithms required to do the kinds of calculations a calculator can do. You really think your work is reducible to an elaborate for of 2+2?

There is an enormous body of literature on human creativity and collaboration that makes clear that research is not a matter of programmable algorithms AND also that we do often have to cite where we learned things.
