I've seen these pause ads too, and I think they are part of HBO Max on the ad-supported tier. I've also seen them on ad-supported Peacock TV as well. (Incidentally, we use a Roku streaming stick but I've been thinking about an Apple TV just for the general lack of clutter and better experience.)
