Pt. 1 A month ago a popular writing youtuber did a video that fanfiction destroyed modern writing. I'm not going to shout them out b/c I don't have the wherewithal to do a 1 hour explanation of why they're absolute bs, but I owe a lot of my practice of writing to fanfiction. #writingcommunity Pt. 2 It boggles my mind that there are those poeple who tear down people writing fanworks. Unless the subject matter is truly disturbing, the act of playing around with other's characters is something we've done as children with toys. #writingcommunity Pt. 3 Thus, IMO there's nothing inherently shameful about writing fanfic and I find some of the snobbery I sometimes see utterly ridiculous. I've seen higher viewer count and more passionate responses on the fanfiction I've written than my actual self-published books! #writingcommunity
