I thought I'd take a minute to answer some of the common questions I've been asked by reviewers and authors about exactly how BookMatch works. If you have any other questions, you can find contact details on the site.

An image of a character with a magic staff touching the snout of a bone dragon in front of a solar eclipse, overlaid with the text: Q. Is there a commitment for reviewers to read and review a certain number of books? A. Nope. All we're doing is making it easier for authors to submit their books to reviewers who read their genres. It's no different than if they submitted a book directly. It's up to the reviewers whether they read and review. We are a matchmaking service, not a review service.

Absolutely anyone can sign up from anywhere in the world as long as you're writing or reviewing SFFH books. The only reason we have a .co.uk domain name is because somebody is camping on the .com version.

Just in the places they already do: blogs, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Amazon, Goodreads - as long as you're an active reviewer somewhere, we want you in the BookMatch community.

An image of a character with a magic staff touching the snout of a bone dragon in front of a solar eclipse, overlaid with the text: Q. How are reviewers vetted to prevent piracy? A. Every reviewer who applies is personally vetted by me to confirm they are legit. About 10% of the initial applicants were asked for further proof of recent reviews. Nobody but approved reviewers can access or even see the library.

An image of several planets in space with a lens flare, overlaid with the text: Q. Is this only for new books or can previously published books be submitted? A. BookMatch is open to all books, including those previously published. I’m sure there are lots of self-published books out there that could do with more eyes on them!

1/ We are not a retail site and nobody but approved reviewers can access the library.
2/ We are clearly and expressly not a paid review site, we are a matchmaking/submission service.
