Ever & Always "... and the Deepsleep Sea" page 27 for the record, i share Grace's sentiment. mind you, there's still 10 pages in this chapter. #comics #comicstrip #cartoon #fairytale #fantasy #queerartist

1 of 4

Randy, the Garbage Spirit, grabs the Bean Sidhe in a surprise death grip. Grace, still in shock, holds her throat. Randy turns to Grace and yells, "YOU! GO! LIVE!"

2 of 4

Randy turns to the Bean Sidhe, "YOU! STAY!"

3 of 4

Randy's eyes and mouth become dark silhouetted slits of their original features, "We belong dead..." he says.

4 of 4

Grace falls away to the other end of the void between worlds, grasping her bat. "What the actual hell, Randy?"

Alt-textra: so, OBVIOUSLY Randy's final line here is lifted from The Bride of Frankenstein which is such a departure from the original novel Frankenstein that i would highly suggest never using it on your book report. however, Bride of Frankenstein is a fantastic movie and does manage to capture the tragedy of the original novel better than most media presentations of Frankenstein. (haven't seen the new one, yet, so no spoilers, please!) the creature becomes deeply sympathetic and i won't deny the influence that movie had on the Garbage Spirit Randy. Boris Karloff who played the creature was problematic to say the least. yikes!

okay, so, the servant sacrifices themself to save the hero trope... i hate it. it's a disgusting trope, so i hope y'all know the next several pages are meant as a resolve to that and i will openly criticize it. i believe Grace is absolutely right to be upset, here. but enough said! there's still ten pages and a whole other chapter to fully resolve everything.
