OpenAI was happy to operate as a nonprofit until they realized they actually were sitting on a goldmine worth billions of dollars, and then suddenly we see “oh but we have to fulfill our fiduciary responsibilities to our investors”

Not sure how the OpenAI dynamics will play out, but Google finding a way to exist profitably through ads wasn't that terrible of a thing, was it? It allowed a useful service to exist and advertising, as annoying as it can get, is valuable to society, no?

Also, will the ads be personalized? Because if so a lot a personal and business users are going to find OpenAI’s been using more of their information than they were led to believe.
