Yes! Default institutional policies on AI should be AI = academic dishonesty. Then individual instructors can alter that & opt in when appropriate.
@ryancordell.orgThe problem is that the vast majority of American universities are putting the full onus of AI policy onto individual instructors—sure, we can write “no AI” on a syllabus, but then we have to become the AI police (& judges), which hurts relationships with students & pulls us away from instruction
