Registration has opened for the Scottish Place-Name Society conference on Saturday 7 Nov, where I'll be proposing that 'carden' place-names in Scotland indicate Pictish royal hunting reserves. Online and free to attend - and lots of excellent papers!

I've just signed up for your blog as I see, by strange coincidence, you are researching the area close to where my Scottish ancestors lived, around the Inverness area.

Oh, whereabouts? That's where I'm also from (born Inverness, grew up in Nairnshire and Moray). The blog is on hold now I'm afraid, as I no longer have time for it due to caring commitments and work + PhD.
