I haven’t lived in Texas in years, but I always carried that Texan pride. Crossing the New Mexico line used to fill me with safety and belonging. Now that feeling is gone. The state feels unwelcoming,full of hatred, and led by dangerous people. I’m surprised, disappointed, concerned, and deeply sad.
