3) Quickly modifying figures to some specific standards for a purpose (*cough* the however many detailed pages of IPCC Figures Guidelines *cough*). I just don’t have the time any longer to spend 2 hours on a color scale sorry! And I’m not going to learn much from it either.

The biggest caveats are: 1) you really have to explain in detail whatever it is you want. If you can’t picture the analyses or data in your brain, it will do weird things. 2) asking for streamlined, easy to understand code is important. I need to read it and understand what it’s doing.

I’ve asked each member of my group how and if they use LLM and shared how I do it. I want to make sure they’re learning, but a bit like hazing, I’m not really convinced there’s merit in suffering (=spending a day translating old code to new languages, grinding away at arbitrary rules).
